A new grocery option is coming to southeast Winter Haven as a new Publix Super Markets location prepares to open its doors on Thompson Nursery Road next month.

The new Publix supermarket is scheduled to officially open on Thursday, June 18, bringing expanded shopping access, new jobs, and additional retail development to one of the city’s fastest-growing corridors.

Located along Thompson Nursery Road in Winter Haven, the store is expected to serve residents in nearby neighborhoods as well as customers traveling through the rapidly developing southeastern portion of the city. The opening marks another significant commercial addition for the area, which has seen steady residential growth in recent years.

The supermarket is expected to feature Publix’s traditional full-service departments, including a bakery, deli, produce section, meat and seafood counters, and pharmacy services. Many newer Publix locations also include expanded prepared foods and online pickup options.

Local leaders have pointed to continued investment along Thompson Nursery Road as a sign of Winter Haven’s ongoing economic expansion. The corridor has experienced substantial residential construction over the past several years, increasing demand for retail services closer to new housing developments.

In addition to providing a new shopping destination, the store is expected to create dozens of jobs ranging from customer service and stocking positions to pharmacy and management roles.

Traffic around the new shopping center is expected to increase during the opening week as residents explore the new location ahead of the busy summer season.
